Covilhã was one of the eight municipalities invited to join the Portuguese Network of Jewish Quarters during the last General Meeting of this association, which took place in Castelo de Vide. This group of municipalities, which already includes Fundão, Torre de Moncorvo, Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo, Mêda, Idanha-a-Nova, Seia and Almeida, has now been joined by the city of Covilhã, which will be delighted to welcome the Jewish community and become familiar with its history and culture.

The Natura IMB Hotels Group has recently been granted a Kosher certification, which will place it in an advantageous position within the Israeli market. In order to cement this relationship, on which both parties have been working diligently, the Group will be the first to present a fully Kosher circuit in Portugal, organised in partnership with other hotels in Lisbon and Porto.

The Natura IMB Hotels Group presented Chef Valdir Lubave, its new Executive Chef, at the Lisbon International Tourism Fair (BTL ’14). According to Executive Director Luís Veiga, the Natura IMB Hotels Group is considering a possible expansion, having selected the cities of Lisbon and Porto as preferential targets. The Group, which already owns five hotels in Guarda, Covilhã and Unhais da Serra, is currently analysing opportunities to acquire new hotels. The Group wishes to grow and increase its value while maintaining its health, safety and environmental certifications, one of its major strengths. The Group’s CEO added that additional information should be available on this topic before the end of 2014.

The Medical Centre of Portugal, a PROJECT jointly developed by the H2otel and the Covilhã University Hospital with the intent of promoting Portugal as a trusted medical tourism destination, represents the only serious approach to Medical Tourism in Portugal. According to Luís Veiga, Executive Director of the Natura IMB Group, the owner of the H2otel (the hotel and thermal spa complex located in Unhais da Serra that will host the Health Conference organised by the Fundão Newspaper), this innovative project combines medical and hotel services, which are offered and advertised as a whole.
